High Efficiency Air Conditioner Replacement
Birch Street Townhomes, working with the Community Energy Cooperative (www.energycooperative.net), upgraded all central air conditioning equipment to high efficiency systems.
By taking advantage of a grant/rebate program admistered by the Community Energy Cooperative the cost of this program to Birch Street Townhomes Members was reduced by approximately 40%. Additional savings were realized by having much of the work performed by our own qualified staff.
The Cooperative qualified for this grant/rebate program because the Park Forest Community is one of several Illinois communities targeted by the Community Energy Cooperative to participate in an effort directed toward electric conservation and reduction of peak electric load.
Birch Street Townhomes is fortunate to have had the financial, physical, and staff resources which allowed timely participation in this unusual program. Our Members are realizing substantial savings in the cost of operation of their air conditioning system. In some cases, the reduction in operational cost is close to 50%.

New Rear Porches for Court Townhomes - Update
252 of our townhomes have enlarged rear porches. This project was part of a multi-faceted program which also included electric service and distribution system upgrade, siding replacement, rain gutter and down spout replacement, and extensive landscape renovation.

Custom Capital Improvements
Birch Street Townhome Members continue to present to the Board of Directors new and innovative ideas for the changing and upgrading of their homes. During the past year we have seen a surge of activity resulting in a number of creative decks/patios. The installation of French Doors in the dining room opening onto a raised deck has become a popular modification. Kitchens continue to be the location of the most numerous upgrades. Many Members are going beyond cabinet replacement and are creating totally different work/dining space.
These activities clearly demonstrate how Birch Street Townhomes Members can truly personalize their homes.

Board Meetings
The Park Forest Cooperative-Birch Street Townhomes Board of Directors meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The meetings are held at the Management Office located at 206 Birch Street, Park Forest, Illinois and begin at 8:00 p.m. Board meetings are open to Members. At each board meeting time is allocated to Members who wish to address the board concerning cooperative issues. Summaries of board meetings are published in the monthly newsletter, BIRCH STREET TOWNHOMES-MANAGEMENT KEY.
